I don’t know about your family, but in the fall, life gets insane. Scouting picks back up (We have a Cub Scout and a Girl Scout in this house), school activities and clubs begin again, football season is back which means Sundays are a family day and not an “accomplishing” day (which is a very good thing, but that leaves less time to get crap done…), birthdays, plus all the other fall activities I want to fit in like pumpkin patches onto of a busy fall season of portraits. I don’t even know how you sports families do it!
I rely heavily on my crockpot in the fall. I know the latest thing is the instapot, but I haven’t gotten one yet. Should I?
I rely a lot on Skinnytaste’s Crock Pot Kid Friendly Turkey Chili – This is a HUGE hit in our house. My picky kids love it, my husband requests it often. It’s not at all spicy, but still has a great flavor. It’s usually in hot rotation during the cold months.
New Leaf Wellness has a TON of recipes. All crockpot, and there is even an entire section of ones you don’t have to cook first. Most, if not all, of them are set up to freeze, so if you have a day to set aside, you can crank through a month’s worth of dinners in no time flat and stick them in the freezer. Pull a bag out the night before to defrost in the fridge, and empty it into the crockpot in the morning. These are my favorite.
Seriously, though, the concept of spending an hour or two in the kitchen to prep was a game changer. I love having entire meals in freezer bags, ready to go. In the morning rush, I don’t have time to brown the ground turkey or chop up an onion.
So I was going to list out all my favorite crockpot recipes that are healthy and easy, and 90% of them are from New Leaf Wellness. I’ll save you the trouble of reading through a long blog post- go over there and check it out. They are even grouped together by ones that are easy to prep at the same time!
What are your game changer time savers? I’d love to see some of your favorite crockpot recipes.
