I love watching babies grow! Remember this sweet little newborn? She's back for her 3 month session and we had a blast. This pretty little harford county redhead was all smiles for me for the first half of our session, and slept sweetly for the second half. Getting ready for her moment in the spotlight! I love her nursery, daddy did a great job painting it, didn't he? Such sweet eye contact as she warmed up to the camera. I love her red hair! This dress complemented her eyes so well. Look at that happy face! So many … [Read more...]
How they are :: Family Friday
This week's family friday catch up is from June (we're almost caught up!!). Every month, I go crazy trying to find somewhat coordinating outfits (as I think my poor husband would not appreciate me buying coordinating portrait clothes for them every month), fuss over their hair, fuss over finding the right spot, fuss over the weather, fuss over them cooperating, etc. This month I decided to step back from that, and go back to what I love-- photographing them just BEING. Life as we know it. In our case, life as we know it means … [Read more...]
Family Friday
This edition of catch-up family friday is from May. I think we picked the absolute hottest, muggiest day of the year to do this shoot. Talk about miserable weather! The kids were matted sweaty messes within 30 seconds, the mosquitos were swarming, and I forgot to bring the candy bribes. Recipe for disaster! Luckily, the kids pulled through and other than the sweaty hair, I think we did alright. Our goal from this session was to loosely recreate an image from May 2010. Moose was 3 months old and we went to a field in Bel Air to capture … [Read more...]
Harford County Baby Photographer | This Little Light of Mine
I recently blogged this session from my Mother's Day event. Well, their little man has made his big arrival and I was very excited to head to their house for a very non-traditional session. He was older than my typical newborn, so we didn't do the curled up, posed and sleeping shots as he wasn't too interested in sleeping all that much, and instead focussed on interaction shots with the family. He was a bit sleepy when I arrived, and cat napped periodically throughout the session. And check out those toes! I swear, baby feet are the … [Read more...]
Family Friday
This edition of Family Friday has us way back in April. (Hey, I *am* slowly catching up, here!) My cuties in their Easter finest, before setting out to charm the relatives at dinner. Moose thought he was The Man in his stylish hat. (If it fell off his head, he'd come racing back to me, holding it out and making these cute little dissatisfied noises until I put it back on. Eventually he was able to figure out that I didn't have special powers and he could put it back on all by himself, which then amused him for at least 20 minutes. Hat on. … [Read more...]
Photographer Mentoring/Private Tutoring
I was contacted recently by a local photographer for some one-on-one mentoring, specifically about shooting silhouettes. Now, it's no secret that I am borderline obsessed with shooting sunset silhouettes (say that three times fast!), so I thought it would be fun to work with someone else on them. A little location scouting in Harford County, MD led us to a sweet little spot tucked away in Bel Air. You can shoot a silhouette in the most surprising of places, as long as you can get low enough to lose the clutter on the horizon. I should … [Read more...]

Baltimore Family Photographer | A Mother’s Love
I'm taking a little break in my regular blogging schedule to put the spotlight on an older set of sessions that never made it to the blog on my old website. Back in May, I held the Third Annual Mother's Day Mini Session event! A few of the sessions made it to the blog, but not all of them, and I want to finish featuring my beautiful families. I wanted to go simple for this mini session event. A couch in a beautiful field of tall grass, focusing on the love between mother and child. (I did specify, however, that Dads were more than … [Read more...]

Baltimore Engagement Photographer | A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes
I love to photograph couples. Young love is so exciting-- you have your whole future ahead of you and your possibilities are endless. Getting engaged/married is one of the first major milestones of adult life, second only (in my opinion) to the birth of your children. I was glad to work with this couple before this major heatwave settled in over our heads. The weather was nice (for Baltimore standards, at least), the light was pretty, and love was in the air. We ventured over to a park in Towson to celebrate their engagement! If … [Read more...]
